The Programme
An Evening of Classical Grace
Witness the full arc of a traditional Kuchipudi Rangapravesam — each piece a devotional offering, each movement a prayer in motion.
Vaani Paraku
A traditional Kuchipudi invocation to Saraswathi, the goddess of learning and the arts. The prayer opens with a Sanskrit verse in praise of Vinayaka, the remover of obstacles, followed by the song in which the artists seek blessings for a smooth and successful performance.
Sri Ganapathi Talam
An invocation to God Ganesha, for it is our sacred tradition. We seek his blessings for the smooth and successful completion of all auspicious endeavors. Ganesha, is the remover of obstacles and the one who dispels all difficulties, filling our hearts with courage, clarity, and devotion.
Krishna Sabdam
A traditional Sabdam from the classical Kuchipudi repertoire. In this piece, the artiste embodies a Nayika (नायिका) who lovingly invites her beloved Nayaka (नायक) to join her in a moment filled with beauty and romance.
Natesa Kautvam
A brilliant choreography by Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam (वेंपटि चिन सत्यम), a master whose works have shaped the very identity of Kuchipudi. In this piece, the artiste offers her salutations to God Nataraja, the cosmic dancer whose Aanandha Thaandava (आनंद तांडव) sustains the rhythm of the universe.
Devi Stuti
A powerful composition that praises Goddess Durga, the fierce and compassionate slayer of the Raakshasa king Mahishasura. Celebrated as the eternal protector of the universe, Durga is worshipped by both humans and gods for her strength, grace, and boundless benevolence.
Keerthana — Marakatha Maṇimaya Chēlā
An evergreen choreography of Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam Garu. A vibrant and devotional composition that celebrates the enchanting beauty and divine grace of God Krishna.
Pravesa Daruvu
A hallmark of Kuchipudi Yakshaganams (यक्षगानम), serving as dramatic entry pieces where characters introduce themselves to the audience. Rich in poetry, rhythm, and expressive movement. The artiste enters and introduces herself as Satyabhama, a beloved wife of God Krishna. Sidhendra yogi (सिद्देनद्र योगि) composed this evergreen Bhamakalapam (भामाकलापं). She expresses her love for God Krishna and narrates how she is the nearest to Krishna in beauty and his dearest.
Annamacharya Keerthana
A divine composition of Saint Annamacharya, opening with a luminous Sanskrit śloka by Sri Nrisimha Bharathi (नृसिंह भारति) Mahaswamy. The artiste offers heartfelt praise to God Venkateswara, pleading with the God to hold her hand and guide her steps. Annamacharya proclaims that God Venkateswara is not a distant deity but the very pulse of existence — the One who dwells in the deepest chambers of the heart.
Thillana
In this radiant Thillana set in the enchanting Brindaavani ragam, the music unfolds like a gentle breeze drifting through the sacred groves of Brindaavan. The rhythmic syllables sparkle with playful grace, echoing the divine charm of God Krishna, whose presence seems to dance between every note.
Mangalam
We offer our auspicious salutations for conclusion.
